About the Ski Resort

Bear Valley Ski Area provides a scenic view of the Sierra. Views from the resort drop 3,800 feet into the deep, granite cut of the Mokelumne River.

Although Bear Valley is considered a mid-size ski resort, it ranks as the 8th largest ski area in California. The diverse terrain offers skiing excitement for all abilities.

With 67 trails serviced by 11 lifts that accommodate 12,000 skiers per hour, you'll spend more time skiing and less time waiting in line.

The Grizzly Bowl, one of Bear Valley's biggest attractions, boasts more than 1,000 feet of vertical with an array of steep chutes and wide open bowls. The "Grizz" is one of the most challenging descents in all of California.

Snowmaking the natural way dumps an average of 450 inches of snow annually. But just in case, state of the art snowmaking equipment blankets 35 percent of the terrain with high-quality snow throughout the season.

The Ski School programs offer a unique alpine experience whether you're a beginner or seasoned veteran. Bear Valley's professional and enthusiastic ski school staff provides a fun and instructional experience for skiers of all ages and ability levels.

Skiing Bears Ski School for kids ages 4 to 8 uses innovative techniques to create a fun, positive and educational environment necessary for children to learn the skiing essentials. Parents can choose from a variety of skiing packages while they enjoy time on the slopes worry free.

Bear Valley blends genuine hometown service, the most affordable prices imaginable and a mountain to challenge every breed of skier, with a rustic, traditional High Sierra setting.

The ski area is conveniently located on scenic Highway 4, just two hours east of Stockton, 2.5 hours from Sacramento and 3.5 hours from most Bay Area locations.
