About the Ski resort

Sugar Bowl has always been famous for its rich history, classic ambiance and superior customer service. While these attributes still ring true, now Sugar Bowl has the modern facilities that make it a complete and first class resort. If you haven't seen Sugar Bowl lately, you haven't seen it at all.
Sitting high atop Donner Summit, Sugar Bowl averages over 500 inches of snowfall each winter. Just in case these snows come a little late, Sugar Bowl continues to improve their snowmaking system to ensure great early season conditions.
As always, Sugar Bowl will continue their all out devotion to providing superior customer service. Sugar Bowl will maintain efforts to improve employee training and recruitment, while expanding their guest services programs to ensure a quality experience for all.

Sugar Bowl ski area is located 40 miles west of Reno, Nevada, and 90 miles east of Sacramento, California. Take I-80 to the Norden/Soda Springs exit, then Old Highway 40 south. Go 3 miles to Sugar Bowl's Village Gondola parking lot. The covered parking lot is on your right.
For faster access to the slopes and terrain park, continue on Highway 40 another half mile. Turn right at the Main entrance and park in the Main Lot for convenient slopeside parking near the new Main Lodge.
From Truckee, go to Donner Pass Road at the Gateway Shopping Center in Truckee. Turn left on Donner Pass Road and follow it past Donner Lake, three miles up and over the summit. If Donner Pass Road is closed, you can try the longer route above via I-80.
Note: Carry chains, as Highway 40 is subject to snow storms which can change conditions very quickly. Call 530-426-1111 for road updates.
