Located on Department of Military Affairs property, Hanson Hills Recreation Area is a family-oriented ski park managed and operated by the Grayling Recreation Authority. They have 10 slopes for downhill skiing, 21 miles of cross-country terrain, ice skating, tubing, sleigh rides and two lodges. Opened in 1929, it was the first ski park in Michigan. They added two more runs in 1998, which cut through the hardwoods and opened 2,288 feet of new terrain.
