About the Ski Resort Detroit Mountain is located two miles out of the city. The ski area opened in 1958 and features skiing, snowboarding and cross-country. It also has a ski shop with all the latest equipment and a terrain park with a half pipe for snowboarders.

Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport is 234 miles from Detroit Mountain, or about four hours by car. From the airport, drive N on US 169 for 14 miles to I-94 and then drive W for 169 miles, when you come to US 59 drive N for 40 miles to the City of Detroit Lakes, MN and follow signs to the ski area.
