About the Ski resort
|

|

Sipapu Ski Area is nestled in the Pecos Wilderness and the Carson National Forest along the banks of the Rio Pueblo in northern New Mexico, in town called Vadito.
Sipapu has been family-owned and operated since 1952, which may help explain this modest area's commitment to families. From lodging to terrain everything seems designed both to please a family and help protect the family budget.
With 32 runs, a vertical drop of 1055 feet, average snowfall of 170", and a snowmaking system that covers 70 % of Sipapu's 200 acres, visitors from nearby Taos and other towns can be assured of good conditions.
There's plenty of diversity in the terrain. You'll find tree-skiing and a couple of terrain parks, some long cruising trails, a couple of more difficult shots, and excellent learning and beginner terrain. Base facilities include a lodge, snack bar, restaurant, rentals, a gift shop, a gas station and groceries. Accommodations range from a dorm to family-style cabins, as well as suites, duplexes, and apartments in the lodge. There's also an RV park. Upstairs in the lodge is the Sipapu Grill.
Santa Fe, N.M., or Taos, N.M., are a comfortable, scenic drive from Sipapu. The ski area is conveniently located on Highway 518, just 22 miles from Taos, N.M., 65 miles from Santa Fe, N.M., and 55 miles from Las Vegas.
